Karl and Dieter are the Gentlemen Of Leisure who made this record. The two cool dudes who you can see on the cover of the album met in Berlin, and their bio tells us that they left the city because of the high taxes and long, cold winters to enjoy the warm California sun. My guess is that they were chased out of Germany because the people just couldn't stand their "unique electric sounds" anymore. Let me explain: The debut album from the Gentlemen Of Leisure sounds like Sting got caught in a really bad Eighties remix. The two friends try to imitate Pet Shop Boys and Kraftwerk but fail time after time. The worst is that they manage to put the entire collection of cliché synthesizer sounds on this record, the sounds which the whole music industry decided to never use again. I guess their mothers wished that they had bought a guitar for their boys instead of that high-tech gear that they seem to like so much. This is the year 2002: You can't do this to the people.
