Established German DJ/production duo Gamat 3000 captures their unique sound on their debut album, All Seasons, on Steve Bug’s deep house label Dessous Recordings. Daniel Scholz and Matthias Tanzmann present languid house tunes and laidback grooves which, though solidly built and carefully balanced, are pleasant but overall rather unexceptional. Sure, the delicate textures of 'Whispering' and the scattered percussion of 'Couch Campaign' are nothing if not easy on the ears, but no tune stands out that much from the others. The latter half of the album picks up the pace a bit with more funk-infused tracks such as 'The Night Before', which boasts bouncy organ riffs over peppy deep house beats, and 'Pies $2', a tune full of interesting percussion and fuzzed-out blips, but many of the songs drag just a touch longer than necessary. Nicely done, but nothing definitely nothing new.
