Flashpoint were Ozzy Osbourne's personal pick for 1999's Ozzfest. This seems quite rightly to me, as Flashpoint's album 'On the Verge' has enough potential to become album of the year 2000. Heavy, melodic, energetic, emotional; that's what this band stands for. With influences from both nu-metal and hardcore, Flashpoint have created a unique sound. From the nu-metal-influenced opener 'Faith' to the more hardcore-type of music of a song as 'Militant', all songs are excellently composed and arranged. The songs 'O2', 'Redemption', 'Monday' and 'She' made my CD-player the home of this album for weeks (I don't need a case anymore...). In all songs, vocalist Ollie Luttgenau turns out to be a very able singer. Eric Stenman, who has previously worked with Deftones and Far, has produced 'On the Verge'. Check this album out, you won't regret it! Together with the other new breed (Papa Roach, Glassjaw and Taproot) Flashpoint are giving nu-metal a future that's worth looking forward to.
