'You will find the true beauty of this record after several spins'. Fireside (with none other than Kristopher Astršm in its ranks) sprung out of the northern Swedish hardcore-scene and then started to make more diverse songs. And what a magnificent result, their forth studio-album called "Elite" features quite a unique sound which is hard to pinpoint. Just like Yo La Tengo, sometimes very compact songs with a head and a tail, other times more challenging, stretched out tracks, also very worthwile. An outro on a Fireside song might take several minutes and stay very intimate. But there are also songs that immediately reach out to you. The album ends with an accordeon which evaporates in a rainstorm. Warm inside while it's raining outside. Maybe the best way to understand "Elite". Best release of the year so far.
