Electric Wizard is, in many ways, the worst band in the world. Craziness, drug addiction, arrests, alcoholism, the whole bunch. But the three Wizards, Tim Bagshaw, Mark Greening and mainman Jus Osborn return with their fourth offering: ' Let Us Prey' . A majestic proof of what these three wizards can come up with. In six outstanding songs, the Englishmen have re-written the music for classic gore-movies as the ones made by filmmakers Mario Fulci, Jess Franco and the whole Faces of Death-saga. 'Let Us Prey' is a disturbing collection of drones, sounds and apocalyptic craziness peaking in the instrumental 'Masters Of Alchemy' and the 70's horror soundtrack 'Night Of The Shape'. Electric Wizard is Hunter Thompson on a bad trip. Richard Nixon in the White House and Eyehategod, Trouble and Black Sabbath all roled into one. Savage, totaly bonged-out riffs and sense-shattering vocals take you deep into the land of The Wizard. 'Let Us Prey' is like taking acid. You feel like you have every thing under control and then it happens. Complete paranoia, beastly menacing vibrations and a doomed vision all dragged out of its original context. The music of Electric Wizard is, just like dropping acid, not suitable for every listener. At this very moment of writing the main riff of 'The Outsider' is playing and strange tidal waves of pure anarchy and construction fill the room of my little apartment. Listening to an Electric Wizard album is a true experience of pleasure and pain. I have experienced The Wizard. Follow my footsteps and 'Let Us Prey'. Now fuck off and die.
