Debut album from another legend who's been releasing faster than his shadow. His output of the last few years has been simply massive, and with his still increasing popularity among techno punters that calls for an album. But Rush rushes to no enormous surprises. He digs out the heavy master bass and the obligatory faster-than-the-speed-of-sound tempo served up with the catchy-but-strange gospel and disco sampling ˆ la Moodymann. Add to this - at times monotonous - soundtrack some original Chicago booty shit with dissin' vocals, and all and we are complete. Admittingly, most of the tracks on the CD fit the preceding desciption, with the gospel/soul-tinged (but way too fast) 'Look and See' and 'Freaks on Hubbard' (blessed with a great intro, but further on spoiled by Rush's Cajmere-influenced ramblings-in-a-funny-voice) leading the way. That last remark equally goes for 'Never Let Go' and the closing track 'Get Yours': rude slabs of technoid terrorhouse thwarted by a DJ who just can't seem to stop the flood of funny rhymes. But luckily there is also a spot reserved for the tech-house style 'America', thriving on slowly emerging space noises, underscored by unsettling female choirs and the warped, freakin'-hard Chicago disco of 'Revelation', trying to embrace the spirits of Gene Farris and Robert Armani alike. So a mixed bin this is. An honest conclusion that nevertheless cannot get 'round the equally honest fact that Mr. Rush has managed to cook up minimally six or so garanteed dancefloor-tearing techno-explosions on one single album. And that should never be considered a bad thing. Music for the hungry dancing feet this is.
