Ladies and gentlemen, here's summer's last-minute review! Perfectly released at the beginning of this year's summer, it took me a few months to figure out what to write about it, and now at the end of the sunny season, i still haven't got a clue how to do it without y'all thinking this was written by the Classic people themselves. In my defence please look at the facts: You have two of the world's greatest house DJs, who happen to own the world's greatest house label and have both its back and forthcoming catalogues at their disposal for this double mix-CD. I know I don't have to spell it out to you, but i'll do it anyway: Luke Solomon and Derrick L Carter both filling one mix-CD with the past, present, and future of their Classic label, showing us all how to get the most out of these catchy house tunes. What more do you want? This is this year's must-buy, the essential gem, the nec plus ultra of what house music mix-CDs will have to offer you in 2001. Get back to your stereo and play it again and again and again... (until the release of the next issue mixed by Doc Martin, which is a very good prospect indeed!). To the few househeads on this planet who don't have a clue what all this ranting is about: Start hunting for a copy, for chrissakes! From highlight to highlight, the future's looking good with Luke's 'Spun Out' mix concentrating on forthcoming Classic releases, while exploring the deeper and eclectic aspect of the house spectrum. Derrick's 'If it Moves, Kiss it' mix kicks off with Herbert's frantic mission statement 'Got to be Movin'', taking it to a higher energy level with the funkier "peak time" part of Classic's back catalogue. Already a classic in its genre!
