LTJ Bukem serves up number three in the series.
CD, Cookin'/Lowlands
Tekst: Koen Mariën
Publicatiedatum: 30 maart 2002
Yep, another compilation to be filed under 'lounge.' But when LTJ Bukem is the selector, it's best to keep your ears open. The 'Ingredients' series, of which this is release number three (out of five), is used by Bukem to showcase the talent from Cookin' Records, one of the Good Looking family labels. Nothing but new names, that means, with artists like 'Elusive Tides,' 'Spectral Bullit' and 'The Abdominal Snowman,' which on its own makes this compilation very interesting. On top of that, all the tracks are up-to-par, and there are a few surprises on this one: Magic Horse with their crazy free jazz track; Winter 98 do it in a DJ Shadow style; and Spectral Bullitt are at it with some high-speed funk. The vast amounts of lounge compilations tend to make these kind of releases absolutely non-essential, but if you were planning on buying one, Cookin' will certainly give you your money's worth. This is lounge music with balls!
