It's a bit of unlucky timing to have two Marco Bailey mix cd's end up at about the same time in the record shops, but nevertheless both releases are worth listening to. That is, if you're into stomping techno, because that's what this Belgian dj specialises in. Marco Bailey is one of the more popular techno dj's in Belgium and regularly spins at parties all over Europe. It's not really a surprise that he was asked to do the honours on the new I Love Techno cd. When you read this, people are probably still cleaning up the mess after this years second edition, on november 17th, when more than ten thousand people danced their ass off on one of the biggest parties in Europe. For those of you who just can't get enough of the rave feeling, Marco Bailey serves 18 stomping tracks that will certainly bring back memories if you were there. The tracklisting includes names like Funk D'Void, Ben Sims, Green Velvet, Planetary Assault Systems and Terence Fixmer (with his anthem-like 'Armee des Tenebres). The pace is relentless, but that's exactly what I Love Techno is all about: bop 'till you drop. To top it all off, Bailey ends his mix with the two biggest electro tunes of this year: 'Sunglasses at Night' by Tiga and Zyntherius and 'Emerge' by Fischerspooner', both from Dj Hell's Gigolo Records.
On 'Mixed Sessions' Marco Bailey puts together the best tracks from all the Session Recordings releases untill today. Session Recordings is Bailey's personal label. It's a subsidiary of Headroom Music, founded by the same people who were behind Re-Load, a Belgian label with quite a track record when it comes to stomping techno. Most of the artists are locals, but in its short existence Session Recordings was able to lure a few international artists, like Dj Rush, Cristian Varela and Jay Denham. Almost half of the tracks are by Marco Bailey himself, proving he's just as good in producing stomping techno as he is in mixing it. Also check out 'Los Hijos Del Sol' by Tomaz vs Filterheadz, a track that was a big club succes in Belgium and that also features on the 'I Love Techno' cd. If you're into stomping techno, then one of these cd's is bound to end up in your collection.
