This diverse collection of groovy, hip tunes should please lounge music aficionados with a taste for the eclectic. With the cream of the Parisian electronic crop contributing tracks, this enjoyable disc swings easily from sultry jazz to floor-filling house with a distinctly French flair. Standouts include the mellow, retro-spun house of Llorca's I Cry, remixed here by Ernest Saint Laurent, the electronic jazz fusion of Monsieur Charles (in IC Le Funk), and the heady, ambient sounds of Fab Sioul's Silence. Doctor L makes quite an impression with Lost In Da Machine, a crisp, bleepy tune with an interesting juxtaposition of flute with vocodered voices, and Williams Traffic delivers a strong track of raw hip-hop beats softened with lazy synths. There are a few questionable tracks here, most notably the awkward hip-hop of Ark's Sucubz and the silly voice-over on Bount's Unplug, but for the most part, the contributing artists (which include Laurent Garnier, Bertrand Burgalat, Shazz, and Shinju Gumi) turn in an admirable array of tunes. Champs-Elysees Cafe makes for some interesting listening, and definitely stands out from the scores of chill-out compilations on the market today.
