With plenty of interesting releases on Primate, Phont, Rotation, and Music
Man under his arm, Swiss DJ and producer Deetron found it time to come up
with his own mixed selection. And it must have been since Derrick May's
legendary fifth part in the Mix-Up series that we have been this shook up
by a recorded DJ set. With the mere aid of three SL1200s and some efx, Deetron drops a steaming and, to be honest,
a rather definitive take on what playing
out techno should be. With 37 tracks contained in 70 minutes you will
understand that the pace at which they pass is murderous. With that attitude
Deetron not only avoids the pitfalls of the usual Saturday evening
techno set, but also invests in the necessary diversity of style by dropping
indestructible classics by the likes of Kevin Saunderson, Orlando Voorn, Ron
Trent, and even Earth People next to the newest releases by Gary Martin, Ben
Sims, Samuel L, and Oliver Ho. And he divides his time neatly between giving
the punters what they want and drawing their attention to hidden treasures
by Bushflange, Rue East, and Tan Ru. And to top it all off, BFC's Chicken
Noodle Soup has been included. An absolute revelation.
