Sure, filtered house has been done to death (and then some), but there's something irresistibly appealing about all that vocodered rambling and those punchy, retro-flavored beats. As a relatively new name on the French house block, the Dax Riders wisely stay away from the cheeky, over-the-top playfulness that Daft Punk made famous, choosing a more straightforward, earnest, yet entirely uplifting approach which places them alongside the likes of Etienne de Crecy and Phillipe Zdar. Crowd-pleasing to the end, the Dax Riders strike a delicate balance between kitschy and cool with their crisp, clean beats, tastefully restrained digitized vocal lines, and sleazy, bass-driven funk. Also take note of the killer remixes on this disc.
