As the cover of his latest album suggests, David Frizzell is Nashville in every inch, and it pretty much goes without saying that previous album titles, such as 'Family's Fine, But This One's All Mine', 'For The Love Of Country', and 'My Life Is Just Bridge' are quite ridiculous and kitschy titles, much in the style of these old-time country tunes on '2001', which at least is a more acceptable title for a record. The most remarkable song here is the over-sentimental 'I Ain't Going If There Ain't No Hank', which made me think of Danny Mirror's disastrous single 'I Remember Elvis Presley', especially when it comes to Frizzell's awful songwriting. The album contains quite a lot of these hilarious and often campy tunes, such as 'You've Just Been Robbed By Jesse James', 'She's Not In My Bed', 'I'm Gonna Hire A Wino To Decorate Our Home', and 'The Good Book'. It's not really that much fun or campy - well, maybe for two or three songs - but overall it's too polished, and I've heard it done more hilarious than David Frizzell does on '2001'.
