Mastermind producer and DJ Dan ‘The Automator’ Nakamura, longtime achieved person in the hip-hop and turntablist scene, known to a large audience for his work with the Gorillaz project, has put together a compilation record for home enjoyment of his celebrated live mixing sets. As a true salesman, Dan pulls out all kinds of records: It’s up to the listener to decide. As a whole, the ‘vibe’ is perfect throughout the record; quite the right groovy party stuff indeed. Dominant in this mix is hip-hop, courtesy of De La Soul, Deltron 3030, and Jigmastas. Remarkably however these are interspersed with Dan’s own remix of Air’s beautiful Le Soleil Est Près De Moi and tracks by Zero 7 or Tortoise. The blowout is reserved for X-ecutioners flowing into Dilated Peoples’ Clockwork. With the inclusion of Latin Simone by Gorillaz, this record shows great skill in mixing and a genius at choice of tracks. Ready for the summer party!
