When one of the techno gods releases a full length album, the big question's always if those banging beats will sound just as nice in the confinement of a living room as on a heated dancefloor. In this case the answer is yes. Mister Synewave himself presents twelve tracks on this one. The minimal sound we've come to expect from Damon Wild is all over the place, but at the same time the tracks have a really funky and warm feel to them, thanks to the very diverse use of percussion. This is funky minimal techno at its best, and it sometimes sounds more like the older Purpose Maker output from Jeff Mills than like the loopy techno we're used to from Damon Wild. Although most of the music is quite relentless, there are also a few slower tracks, like 'Close-Range' or the almost Basic Channel-like title track, but Damon Wild is still at his best when the bpm moves up. A track like 'Beat on da Drums', sort of a rework of the classic 'Women Beat Their Men' by Submission and already released on a seperate 12'', will no doubt set lots of dancefloors on fire. Nice one!
