It's the disease too many stonerrock bands are suffering from: The Kyuss Syndrome. The Kyuss Syndrome is collection of symptoms, with the most evident feature being the big resemblace to the inventor of the syndrome, Dr. Kyuss. A band like Natas is suffering from this as well, but luckily they manage to incorporate their own feel into the familiar sound. That's something the German band Colour Haze hasn't managed to do just yet. When recording this album, it is clear that the above-mentioned disease was at its most active. Every note, every rhythm, every jam, every riff breathes Kyuss. It has to be said that Colour Haze masters the art of copying quite well, and it makes the music fairly enjoyable. Unfortunately, there is a big BUT. That BUT is the vocals: They suck. They sound flat, boring and powerless. They make the album far less good than it could have been. The Kyuss Syndrome, if not heard on too many occassions, is not an irritant or dangerous disease. If you can live with bad vocals you might give this a shot after all, but they better find themselves a new singer soon.
