No beating around the bush. Straight to the point hardcore is what Coalition has put together. On their debut EP named 'The Ignition: From Friction To Fire' a mixture of fast aggressive hardcore and melodic slow screamo is blasting through the ears. Formed somewhere at the end of 2000 it is hard to believe they can sound already as innovative as this. Well, here is history lesson number one: being a merger of the bands Resound and Varsity makes Coalition not just an ordinary band. Guitar riffs, including solos (special mention goes out to the last song: 'Yesterday Never Ends'), and extremely aggressive drums make this music interesting. Besides that the whole crew and their goodfellas are backing up each other with vocals during the seven songs. It is like the small amount of salt you add to your meal. It's the taste that makes you hungry for more. Unfortunately the 18 minutes of music on this album don't end the rumbling in my stomach. Hopefully we can expect more of Coalition's creations in the near future. If you like hardcore and you don't care about using the repeat button I recommend 'The Ignition: From Friction To Fire'.
