A couple of weeks ago I was at a hardcore festival in Maastricht. There I met a guy who did a lot of promotional stuff for record labels and bands. So I told him I wrote for a brilliant website (guess which one!!). After a little chat with him, he gave me a demo CD of a band called "Clenched Fist L.B.". I never heard of this band before, but when I saw their name I expected some furious old school or something like that. I was wrong, this is death metal!! When I think of death metal, I think about music that has more than 200 beats per minute and some dude burping in the microphone. Well, Clenched Fist L.B. is much slower than your stereotype death metal band, but still very brutal. The CD mostly consists of a lot of low- and midtempo parts. They sometimes remind me of the band Six Feet Under because the vocalist sounds a lot like Chris Barnes. Their lyrics are mostly about hating people and putting them in their coffin. I never like listening to death metal but the last song "final war" is really nice. If you are into death metal (well, the slower stuff) you ought to give this band a chance.
