One word: sick! When it comes to death-grind, you don't get much better
than Circle Of Dead Children. I've been impressed with this band for quite
some time, and their latest offering, 'The Genocide Machine', has
proven them to be ever-growing in their field of musical misanthropy. You
can start at any point of this CD, which offers 17 grinding slabs of meat
for you to sink your teeth into, and be completely satisfied with your
purchase within mere moments. Displaying both high pitched and low end
vocals, Circle Of Dead Children musify total annihilation through superior
guitar riffs, while the drummer backs it up with blast-beats tighter than the US/Mexico
border.
While songs like 'Extreme Cannibal Smoke', 'Only One Per Coffin',
'Two Week Notice', and 'Beethoven's Children' show off their
technical skill on their instruments, it also displays their superior
songwriting ability. You see, none of the songs sound
particularly the same, which has become a problem with quite a deal of bands
in the brutal death/grind scene these days. Also, choosing not to stick
just to blasting grind, fast death, slow sludgy grind, or any other one
genre of brutal metal seems to be what keeps this album
intersting listen after listen. Comparing the first song 'Migration'
and the last song 'CTRL * ALT * DELETE' you see two totally different
styles of music. But the Circle of Dead Children sound still remains.
Though many grind bands have gone the route of incessant blasts, exclusively
burp-core vocals, and guitar riffs so down in the mix of the album that it's
difficult to understand what exactly they are playing, Circle Of Dead
Children chooses to keep groove and rhythm in their grind while remaining
just as brutal as their peers. Brutal death/grind is slowly making its way
to the fore-front of modern underground metal and we shall soon see Circle
of Dead Children join Harakiri, Disavowed and Pyaemia as the newcomers soon to head up that
faction. They simply have done nothing wrong on 'The Genocide Machine', and
show no signs of slowing down the grind-machine. Technical destruction
played perfectly.
