Is Brainshake going to be next Dreadlock Pussy or Dimension Seven? I'm sure the band wouldn't mind. They're in the same league, are also from Holland, and have a grand total of eight sponsors for their musical equipment, so why not? From what I can hear on Gently Destructive, this five-piece nu-metal band does have the talent for it.
One of Brainshake's qualities is their ability to write actual songs, instead of randomly pasting pieces of music together until the clock points out five minutes — something a fair share of nu-metal bands could be accused of. Brainshake does follow the contemporary rules of alternating between emotional, melodic parts and hectic outbursts of drums and guitars, implying the use of several vocal techniques for singer Erik Kalsbeek.
On a national level, Brainshake should be able to conquer a position in the higher ranks of the biz. The production and artwork are well taken care of. If their live shows are of the same caliber, I think Brainshake could easily be a support act for one of their many American colleagues.
