Anger Of The Lamb | Introvert

Over-the-top and pretentious, but not without talent.

Pretentious is the first thing that comes to mind when reading the band's website. "We are but the sheep that follow a shepherd of mediocrity, feeding on his calls of content like a child to his mother's milk." So there you have the anger of this particular lamb. Brian James Snell, age 23, is the father of this project, and, as he explains in his whole presentation, he is serious. Serious as hell, I might add. He created 'Introvert' wholly by himself; his vision is widely spread on the inlay, on his website, in his lyrics. Got to give him credit for all of the effort and dedication he put into Anger Of The Lamb. Unfortunately for him, biographies as pretentious as presented here are so unwantedly funny that it becomes virtually impossible to listen unprejudiced to the music. Calling your album a vehicle for medication, reflection, damnation, and reconciliation for the artist as well as the listener is funny if it would be meant sarcastically, but it becomes plain pathetic here. But enough of this, on to the music. Music that wouldn't be composed if Trent Reznor had never released anything. Because that is what Anger Of The Lamb is: Nine Inch Nails, some time around the 'Pretty Hate Machine' era. Songs are good though. Quite enjoyable, these industrial sounds, especially since this music hasn't been made for ages. But that is also the problem. Not only does it sound outdated, Nine Inch Nails did it first and much better. Plain plagiarism as in 'Plinck' doesn't help Anger Of The Lamb's case either. So, adding up the over-the-top presentation and the totally unoriginal musical approach, we can only conclude that Brian James Snell ought to have put much more effort into the music rather than into the whole image and presentation. Maybe on a next album, because we can't call Anger Of The Lamb talentless.
