Force Tracks, the sublabel of Frankfurt based Force Inc, has been one of the hot items when it comes to minimal techno-house for more than a year now. The sleeves with the big eye have become a synonym for excellent deep and warm etheral soundscapes with enough beats to keep your mind dancing. The vast majority of the more than twenty-five quality releases came from completely unknown talent from the Berlin and Frankfurt scenes, with names like Crane A.K., Matthias Schaffhäuser and M.R.I. Nowadays Scandinavian heroes Vladislav Delay and Hakan Lidbo also appear on Force Tracks. Release number thirty had to be something special so British dj Andrew Weatherall was asked to make a selection from the catalogue and mix it all together. Weatherall, as a producer part of Two Lone Swordsmen (Warp) and the man behind Sabres of Paradise, already had a firm reputation as a dj in the very early nineties and proves on 'Hypercity' he can still deliver the goods. The mixing is perfect and Weatherall melts one excellent track after another into a nice hour long drive through the wonderful world of Force Tracks. Even if you have the twenty-nine other releases, this album is still worthwhile. A great dj and great music.
