Air | The Virgin Suicides

A new Air album? Sure, the name says so. But don’t expect something like the hit-album Moon Safari. 'The Virgin Suicides' is an album as a whole. It’s music for a movie with the same title and is adjusted to the atmosphere of the movie. An atmosphere that could be described as mysterious, dreamy, vague and sometimes even a little depressing. On the first track a dark but fascinating voice tells us about the story of the virgin suicides but furthermore we hardly hear another voice speak or sing. Just until the Vangelis-like 'Dead Bodies' leads us to the final song 'Playground Love' we hear a voice sing some lyrics. Of course this is also the first (and only?) single Air released of this album. The Virgin Suicides fits perfectly in his role as ideal background music. The tunes are beautiful and relaxing but try not to fall asleep. Light some candles in your dark room. Open a bottle of your favorite French wine and enjoy Air.
