59 Times The Pain is one of the first bands I started listening too. I still like their music but it has changed a lot. Nowadays 59 Times The Pain has this swinging psycho rock sound. It took me a long time to get used to it, but I'm getting to like it. 'Calling The Public' is not very different from their last two albums, so if you're familiar with 'Twenty Percent Of My Hand' and 'End Of The Millennium' you know what to expect. When listening to all these albums you immediately hear these Swedes are getting older. (Well, who doesn't?) There are 12 new songs on the 37 minute disc. There is a lot of difference between the songs. They all have their own sound. That's pretty cool. Most of the time when you hear an album a lot of songs do sound the same. Well that's not the case on 'Calling The Public'. It's like 59 TTP is experimenting a little bit. You can hear some trombones, harmonica, piano and some other ska instruments on the album as well as a reggae flow in the last song 'The Emergency'. Because of this the song earns a spot on the top list of this album. Other good tracks are 'Room With A View', 'My Life Choice My Call' and the title song. Unfortunately not all songs are way cool. I think there's still this small piece of me that longs for the old, punkier 59 Times The Pain which influences my opinion of their new sound negatively. Still I'm really glad I have 'Calling The Public' in my collection now. It's a great album for 59 Times The Pain fans, but not for the punk or hardcore freaks of these days.
