When a band starts with a song like 'God's Musical Messenger', it's almost impossible to screw things up. The song has everything Reiziger stands for in its music: minimal guitars, noise, rhythm changes, beautiful melodies, and passionate vocals. A big plus is that the dynamics play a much bigger role live than on the album. Reiziger sucks you in and doesn't let go until the last note has been played. As mentioned in the interview, they consider themselves a live band, and they weren't lying. This music is meant to be played live, and even if you can hear some definite influences by acts like Sonic Youth and Slint, the songs very much stand on their own, not in the least because of the hardcore intensity everything is played with, no matter if it's silent or loud. Go catch them when you get the chance. Maybe at the Pukkelpop festival this summer.
