It doesn't happen to me very often. In fact, it barely ever happens to me. But tonight it did. The band I came to see turned out to be one hundred percent disappointing . . . even though I was prepared for the worst. I knew that only a few of the original members are still in Gotcha!. I didn't expect Gotcha! to play a lot of old material. And I did hear the stories about the dreadful Nicotine Featuring Gotcha! tour. But this band managed to surpass the worst case scenario that I, a semi-professional cynic, had in mind. First of all, the band should ditch some of the superfluous MCs (Nicotine guys?). Secondly, the new songs are just ongoing bass licks without any suspense, construction, or dynamics. And last but not least, the only song played from the Gotcha! Gotcha! album, was given new lyrics! How can you disgrace yourself, and, at the same time, disrespect your audience like that? This wasn't Gotcha!. These were ten individuals group-raping the name Gotcha!. I strongly advise people not to go and see them anymore. Listening to their older CDs (or checking out the Incrowd, Ro's new band) makes you feel a lot better.
