KINDAMUZIK Goes Dutch
KindaMuzik will cease its publication in the English language as of January 1, 2003. Starting in the new year, the website will host all of its content in its native language of Dutch. With this shift, KindaMuzik reaffirms its ambitions to remain the number one online music magazine in the Netherlands and Belgium.

The move, recently decided on by KindaMuzik's editorial board, has been a
long time coming. The editors: "KindaMuzik currently has thousands of unique
visitors a day, from all over the world. However, we feel strongly about our
identity as a Dutch online magazine. It is our goal, rather than be one of
many English sites dedicated to music worldwide, to become the single best
publication dedicated to new and challenging music in the Benelux, print or
web. We strongly believe that there is a lack of good music reporting in
Holland and Belgium, especially when it comes to smaller, lesser known
artists and movements. We would like to try and help fill that void. The
best way for us to do this is to communicate with our readers in their
native language, and that language is Dutch. We've never been about numbers
or hits, and we'd rather focus on quality even more, instead of quantity.
"KindaMuzik plans to build a community, comprised of writers and readers. By focusing on the Benelux, we feel that we'll be able to identify more with our readership - by means of concerts, parties, events, and competitions, for instance - than through a computer screen. We want to get out there, get involved, and get people talking.
"Of course, this has not been an easy decision for the editors, and we know that we're letting down many of our readers from other parts of the world, as well as a handful of writers. We do hope, however, that everyone can understand our position. There are not enough words to thank everyone who has supported us from the start, since our launch nearly four years ago, on Valentine's Day 1999.
"We're looking towards the future, with the best devoted writers and photographers we could possibly wish for. Our team is very dedicated, and we'll be out there - in the clubs, backstage in smelly dressing rooms, and banging on the doors of record labels - to ensure that our readers continue to get the most knowledgeable and up-to-date interviews, features, and reviews around."
